Substantiated in the principles of sustainable fashion, creative exclusivity and slow-fashion rhythm, the production of AAA’s garments give priority to handmade procedures of cultural and traditional approaches. When applying primarily African origin materials and second-hand pieces, it thereby creates unique garments, which have both ethical and ethical dimension, that respect the knowledge and technical ability of the tailors involved in the co-creation process. On its basis, the key-concept of this project develops and involves itself on the fashion concept, since it is considered as an activator of the positive social change.
The atelier’s services are based in tailoring, re-tailoring and co-design, where other creators are invited to work with the atelier. The AAA’s creation are equally patent in a showcase format in MODAAFRICA’15 event, assuring this way the presentation e spread of the best results of this project to the public. Ghitta Laskrouif (Morocco)
Ghitta Laskrouif is a Moroccan fashion designer headquartered in Casablanca, who frequently presents her collections in the Casablanca Fashion Week where, in 2012, she won the Design Award ASI award.
After studying fine art and fashion design, she started her career as a contemporary fashion designer. The purpose of her (re) fashion collection is to value and to communicate with the heritage and love that are intrinsic in each recycled project or in each handicraft item of hers.
The designer believes that fashion is more than the clothes we wear. More than the intellectual comprehension of the creative questions it is itself a story, a life experience, a behaviour that reflects the values that are underlying.

Nikola Corandie (Namíbia)
Nikola Corandie has her base in Namibia, where she returned to create her own label after studying fashion design in the Polimoda Institute in Florence, Italy. In her own words, she can describe her work as ‘classic’. Nikola Corandie tends to go back to the fifties and that’s why her creative work basis “can be considered a ‘vintage’ reconsidered in contemporaneity”. In addition, she proudly links her work with environmental conscience, since sustainability is reflected in the use of ecological fabrics, as well in the production chain, given that it respects its employees with whom she develops her collections. Although having a great attachment to comfort and luxury, she also takes into account the natural fabrics, mainly using natural colours instead of artificial ones, which is the reason why her collections can be distinguished for the little colour notes.

Samissone (Portugal/Mozambique)
Teresa Samissone is a Portuguese fashion designer with Mozambican roots. In 2010, arises SAMISSONE, a label of contemporary clothing that uses fabrics with African prints and in which we can find pieces that distinguish themselves for the crossing between the well-studied shaping and the rich, dynamic and colourful patterns, which result in collections of unique and exclusive pieces that carry a great energy and African inspiration.
The clothes created by SAMISSONE are usually developed in an atelier and produced in an exclusive way, never repeating the patterns in the same modelling.
In exclusive to MODAAFRICA’15, the designer will present a collection conceived on its basis on the upcycling technique, changing unused pieces into something new, current and desirable and she will also present SAMISSONE pieces from previous collections, which had less impact, now revisited according to the new fashion tendencies.
Teresa Samissone, through active and conscious practices, contributes to the decrease in the ecological footprint. Simultaneously she finds the opportunity to value matters such as individuality, respect for life, our planet and family, not only through the label concept but also through her work and in what allows her to relate with others in social terms.
